"Flight and Rescue"
This 6,000 square foot exhibit by means of dramatic displays
and photographic reproductions chronicles the route across Eastern
Europe and Asia of 2,100 Polish refugees living in Lithuania,
who made the trek to a safe haven in Japan and for some to China
during World War II. These large photo screen wall graphics and
digital reproductions showed the extraordinary circumstances
and the individuals' actions that enabled them to survive. Our
floor and wall mounted conservation cases housed papers and historical
artifacts of the refugees. Audio-visuals recount the stories
and recollections of survivors. These films and testimonies enable
the visitors to have a better understanding of their flight.
